Paul Gallegos recently won a $1.1 Million judgement against Big Oil, Inc, forcing them to repair failing systems and take measures to ensure that petroleum leaks do not occur. He has succeeded in protecting drinking water resources throughout Humboldt County.

Should DAs be prosecuting cases?

I came into this office as an experienced trial attorney. When I first ran for this office, I did so with the understanding that smaller counties have needs that must be met in the courtroom. I let the voters know that I would be an active attorney—I would lead this office from the front. The budget for my office has consistently been small, and with the number of cases that pass through my office each year (typically 10,000, of which 250 go to trial) it is necessary for any Humboldt County District Attorney to be active in the courtroom.
